Show Rammettes, Stage Band garner laurels at State Drill Team Meet l """'I L-UiCi "I c" 1 0 PAROWAN - The Parowan High School Rammettes and Stage Band participated in the First Annual State Drill Team Competition held at Cyprus High School on Saturday March 20. The Rammettes took two teams and competed in two separate categories. The Drill teams competed in an elimination round in the afternoon, and the top four teams in each category competed in a final round that evening. After round one Parowan High School Varsity Rammettes led all teams. The final standings in each category were as follows: Prop-Novelty Prop-Novelty Division; Juab 1st, Parowan 2nd, Wasatch 3rd (The Parowan Novelty Routine was done to the music of "Kung-Fu Fighting"). Small Military Team Division; Cyprus 1st, Vie'wmont 2nd, Morgan 3rd, Monticello 4th. Large Military Team Division; Jordan 1st, Granger 2nd, Cottonwood Cot-tonwood 3rd, Murray 4th. Dance Team Division; Bountiful 1st, Logan 2nd, Parowan 3rd, Weber 4th. Also as a part of the competition, com-petition, trophies were awarded to the best Bands who accompanied ac-companied their marching groups. Cedar City's Jazz Ensemble En-semble placed 1st, Cyprus High's Band 2nd, and Parowan High's Stage Band placed 3rd. Leilani Bentley and Gary Jensen expressed pride in the Rammettes and Stage Band for their strong placing on a State Level Competitioa PHS was the only 1-A school with marching groups in the final round. There were only 3 2-a school and the remainder were all 3-A and 4-A schools. Rammettes who participated in competition the past week DeAnn Stapley, Annette White, Lisa Hyatt, LueShell Smith, Janeal Stubbs, Janice Mitchell, Heidi Boardman, Leslie Taylor, Jeani Jerome, Ann Stolk, Jill Jerome, Wendy Stubbs, Tracy Eldredge and Cindy Prisbrey. These girls were on the precision dance team. J. V. Marchers - who performed per-formed a novelty number: Celeste Davis, Becky Fox, Lisa Robinson, Wendy Orton, Melanie Smith, Denise Pendelton, Julie Oreton, Charlotte Stubbs, April Evans, Natalie Bentley, Tammy Robinson, Teri Crowder, Cecelia Adam, Cindy Golden, Carolyn White, Kay Dell Orton and Pam Orton. TAKE THRID PLACE. The Parowan High School Rammettes go thorugh precision marching mar-ching routine that gave them third place honors in state-wide competition held in Salt Lake City this past weekend. |
