Show Escalante Student Wins Place in State Contest ESCALANTE Eighth grader Raymond Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gardner, Boulder received an honorable mention in the 12-16-year-old division at the state level in the "Health Through Friendship" poster contest sponsored by the International Council on Alcohol and Addictions American Foundation and the Health Promotion Foundation. .The, Escalante .. .High School student was awarded a certificate from the Utah Division of Alcohol and Drugs, a personal letter from Leon PoVey, state director of the division, and a certificate from the sponsoring organizations. His drawing was forwarded to the national competition to be entered in nationwide judging. Other participants from Sheila Wooley's eighth grade class at Escalante High School were: Trudy Gracie, Natalie Coombs, Stacy Davis and Ammon Carter who received certificates from the Alcohol and Drug Prevention Department of the Southwest Utah Mental Health Center. |
