Show Bids Opened for More Interstate-70 Work The Utah Department of Transportation opened bids today for grading and drainage work on the section of Interstate 70 from Joseph to Elslnore in Sevier County. The project includes grading, drainage, structures and right-of-way fencing. LeGrand Johnson Construction Company of Logan submitted the apparent low bid of $6,919,935. UDOT's official engineer's estimate was $8,257,264. Work will begin in the near future on grading the seven-mile section of 1-70 from Joseph to Elslnore. The new section of intereste is being constucted just west of and parallel to US 89. Also Included in the contract will be installation of drainage pipes and construction of minor structures such as drainage boxes and a retaining wall at the Elslnore Cemetery. Right-of-way fence will be installed along both sides of 1-70 the full length of the project. The section of 1-70 from Belknap Interchange to Sevier Junction is currently under construction. Grading work has been completed on the section of 1-70 from Sevier Junction to Joseph. A project to build the structures for the interchanges at Sevier Junction and at Joseph has been advertised for bids. Future contracts will be required to build the structure for the Elsinore Interchange and to pave the sections of highway from Belknap In-, terchange to Sevier Junction and north to Elsinore before it can be opened to traffic. Motorists will experience very little traffic interference on this project. The contract allows 240 working days and should be completed by fall of 1986. |
