PROVO, Sept. 14, In a complaint for separate maintenance filed in tho district court today, Mrs. Mkla Billings Anderson makes some very racy and serious charges against, her husband. Robert Anderson. An-derson. The defendant In the suit is the city attornoy for Provo city, and from a conversation between the county attorney at-torney and tho mayor at Provo It is iearned that Anderson will be asked to resign. If he refuses to voluntarily retire re-tire from office, impeachment proceedings proceed-ings will depend on future developments in the case, so says County Attorney Jacob Evans. Mrs. Anderson alleges throe causes of action In her complaint, adultery, failure to provide and cruelty. On the first cause of action plaintiff "on her Information and belief" alleges "that the defendant did on the ISth day of August, 1310. at Utah county, state of Utah, and at the home of the plaintiff and defendant ln Provo city, commit adultery with one" Harriet Anna Phil-Hps, Phil-Hps, and further thai defendant on divers days and times, both prior and subsequent subse-quent to said last named date, has com-mlted com-mlted adultery with the said Harriet Anna Phillips at Utah county, state of Utah. Mrs. Anderson also alleges In her complaint com-plaint that the defendant has written letters to the said Harriet Anna Phillips, giving the dates of a dozen of these love epistles. Following arc two of the letters, let-ters, copied into the complaint. One dated August 30. 1910. reads: "Now, dearest Anna, don't worrv any more: we are going to come out all right. I haven't a particle of doubt about it. The only thing that worries me Is that I cannot get to see my dear little girl once In a while. You havo become so much a part of my life that It seems awfully aw-fully hard not to be able to sec you about every day. but, my dearest sweetheart, sweet-heart, we must keep up our courage for a little while and everything will be all right and you will bo my own true. dear, sweet and loving wife. You said that my touch sent, a thrill all through you. Now. dear Anna. -1 will tell you that which I have never told you berore, and Hint Is that a touch from your hand ever would cause my whole frame to vibrate vi-brate with delight such, as I have never felt before, and those dear sweet arms thrown about me would almost render me intoxicated with ectnsy of joy. Oh. Anna, what wouldn't I give for onlv one short hour with you tonight but then, dearest, I hope for something bettor soon, and that is your sweet companionship companion-ship for life. "I can never get through writing when I get writing to you. dearest, but must close with love and kisses. "Your loving and faithful "ROBERT." In part, a letter written on September 7 reads: "Anna, dear, T am now living only for you and don't care tno snan of my finger what people think or say about 11. There is nothing ln the world for mo any more without you, and there Is everything with you and your love." This letter closes with love and kisses, "and a fond good night to my Anna," and signed tho same as the other ones, "Robert." Tho girl in tho case Involves eight men, some of them married men. In her downfall. For her part In the amorous game she was on Monday last, sent to the reform school at Ogden. there to remain re-main until she Is 21 years of ago, unless sooner released bv parole or pardon. She Is now between 16 and 17 years old. |
