Show STUBBS CALLING FOR CONFERENCE OF GOVERNORS TOPEICA, Kan., Sopt. 14. Governor W. R. Stubbs tonight sent by telegraph a call to governors of twelve states and to mayors or boards of trades of twenty-six twenty-six Kansas and two Missouri ctlics St, Joseph and Kansas City for a conference confer-ence at Topeka September 22 In regard to the proposed advance of freight rates. The governor's call follows: "Tho railroads of the United States have combined for the purposo of making a general advance In freight rates. Tho Interstato commerce commission Is now lnvestlgallng the reasonableness of tho proposed advanced rates. "Many large shippers have requested mo to call a conference for the purpose of discussing ways and means fully to protect pro-tect the rights and Interests of tho producers, pro-ducers, consumers and the general public pub-lic in this case. , "I am therefore calling a conference to be held at the capltol In Topeka Thursday, September 12, 1910. "Kindly arrange to have your state fully represented."
