The New York Motor Mo-tor Trunk sh nv wiil be held the week of January a-io in the Eighth oa?t Pefenso arniory, . 10 1th st reet and Kingsbridge road, and the Chicago show during the week- -of .January 24-31 in the Interna-tienn Interna-tienn 1 a mpb i theater. Inaugural sessions of Die C'niierences will lake place on opening night at both shows, when the speakers will be men of na tional prominence promi-nence and the general subjects of highways high-ways and motor transportation will be discussed with special reference to the economic aspects. Afternoon and evening sessions will be held daily during the remaining six days of each show. Afternoon sessions are intended primarily for those engaged in the motor truck business, including manufacturing, man-ufacturing, distributing and service. Discussion Dis-cussion will center upon such subjects as merchandising and advertising, legislation legis-lation for highway improvement, sales plans, service, the motor transportation idea, and opportunities in rural sections. Interests of motor truck owners and operators, shippers and the general pub-He pub-He have been the primary consideration in arranging Die evening program, for which the subjects scheduled are: Malor vehicles in passenger transportation; increasing in-creasing motor haulage efficiency by such means as routing, loading and unloading un-loading devices, and incentives for drivers driv-ers and helpers; such aids to efficiency as trailers and pneumatic tires; truck and railroad freighting; highways and motor transport; rural motor express as an investment and as an aid to producer pro-ducer and consumer. Development of the rural motor express is proceeding rapidly as a result of the need to increase production and decrease cost of food. Perishable products may be brought to market in good condition and small farmers are combining in co- i operative associations for using a single truck to haul food products to cities and bring back supplies on the return trip. Better marketing and distribution to decrease cost of food by eliminating superfluous su-perfluous handlings of food products is a ; phase of the conference discussions , which should prove especially interesting interest-ing to tho general public, although something some-thing of profit may be gained by a visit i to any of the sessions of tho very eoiu- i prehenslve program. |
