Show L. D. S. TO PROVIDE CHRISTMAS CHEER Christmas h o s ho given all the worthy poor of th; L. U. S. churcii, according ac-cording to announcement made yesterday at tho offices of thu general board of the Relief society. The usual custom of gi ving foodstuffs the day before Christmas, Christ-mas, suitable for tho Christmas dinner, will be followed this year. When the poor in every ward of the church will be looked after by the various ward Relief Re-lief Society organizations. Last year 5jUS worthy poor were remembered, and it is thought about this number will be taken care of this year. The Roy Scouts usually assist in distributing dis-tributing the boxes. In families where there are children, unique littlo Christmas Christ-mas gifts, and ofitimes money is hidden away with the eatables, which comes as a welcome surprise to tho unfortunate. As a rule there are two women who look after each city block in Salt Lake, and they report to their ward organization where the worthy poor are located or where there is sickness, so that no one may be forgotten. Many of the other organizations of the L. p. S. church, such as the ward Sunday schools, Y. M. and Y. L. II. I. A., primary and religion classes, have planned Christmas Christ-mas programs. The Sunday schools will hold their exorcises this morning at 10:30. The Mutual Improvement associations Tuesday evening, and the primary and religion class organizations, composed of children, will hold their Christmas exercises exer-cises on week days. |
