Show "IN OLD KENTUCKY" BILL AT THE GEM The night riders' clifiso iv one of the bi scenes in the First Xmional p p e e i ;i 1 production ''In Old Kentucky,'' with Anita Stewart, which is being shown at the Gem theater this week. The fitting of tho picture is back in the oid lawless days when the moonshiners moon-shiners defied the law and when men of the mountains still settled their differences dif-ferences with the gun, whi'o the men of the cities, impatient of the delays I of the law, often took it into their I own hand. ' Tn the story the night riders were I called out to pursue a mountairoer who j had been accused of setting fire to a i barn, drugging a jockey and attempt ing to shoot one .of the first eitk'-cns. Thev race pell mell over the moun-taiuous moun-taiuous country, leaping Ivdge and streams and gallop madly over t he rouuh rocky roads ou the edge of the cliffs and ravines, or across country iu enmll paths or no paths. It is a stirring j chase by experienced riders, for a mis-I mis-I step would mean serious Mniury or even loath. I The spectacle of this uieht ride is so realistic and strong that it holds tense everyone watching the picture. |
