Mr. Spry has pointed out that there were many specially trained specialists who were held in tiie army to complete the extensive work which the end of the war and tiie demobilization process called for. Many of these men, he says, have been unable as. yet to find their proper employment, and special efforts are being made to find tho right places for them. He said further: fur-ther: "Tho special reemployment section of tho war department is anxious to lose no opportunity to extend the scope of its service to both the men and possible pos-sible employers. We feel a moral obligation, ob-ligation, too, that wo should use every endeavor to replace in civilian employment employ-ment tho thousands of qualified nxm now unsatisfactorily cugaged and those uot engaged at all,. because of the fact that we took them from their occupations occupa-tions and their business and sent them to France to win. the war. Business Men's Aid Sought. "The same feeling moves us in our attitude towards employers, since we likewise took away from them the men whom they had irained and fitted. The business men of the country are earnestly requested to enlist actively in this "most important work and do what they will to make the drive a success. "These men, former officers and enlisted en-listed men, are all capable of doing good work and if the employers have work they can do, it will be of benefit to them, as well as to the former soldiers sol-diers to take advantage of the government's govern-ment's offer to send them the right man." Firms which assure the government of their desire to reemploy all the men left them to enter the service are granted citations which aro signed by the secretary of war, the secretary of the navy aud the assistant to the secretary sec-retary of war. |
