THE dear old ladies of the Sarah Daft Home will not be forgotten forgot-ten on Christmas, for the students stu-dents of tho East Side high school have arranged an elaborate dinner din-ner in their honor. For several days tho domestic science girls, under the direction of Miss Florence L. Parry and Miss Jean Hyde, teachers, have bam preparing the Christmas menu, arranged ar-ranged to suit the tastes of the aged guests. Part of the dinner will be prepared pre-pared at the home, but the famed English En-glish plum pudding and .other dainties, are being prepared in advance at the East high school. Twenty-seven places will be set for the ag-ed women, and the young girls of the school will serve the dinner. A Christmas tree w-ith a suitable gift for each of the women has been arranged. ar-ranged. Representatives of every class in the school will assist. The "money for the dinner and the Christmas party has been raised by subscription among the students, all of whom expressed a willingness to help. The dinner committee consists of Miss Elizabeth Whitmore, Miss Irene Goody, Miss Catherine Graham, Miss Marion Hopper, Miss Euth Jenniugs, Miss Gladys Griffin, Miss Margaret Denn, William Fowyer, Kenneth Kyan. Frederick Farrell, Earshell Newman. Albert Carpenter, Joseph Smith, Peter Well and Harper Sowles, all students. The menu for tho Christmas dinner follows: Hot soup, roast turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and dressing, glazed sweet potatoes, hoi rolls, cranberry jelly, buttered peas, fruit salad and wafers, wa-fers, English plum pudding with dip, raisins, coffee, tea and after-dinner mints. The dinner is . in keeping with the plan of the department to teach tho girls to cook for large numbers. They often cook for the school cafeteria and faculty table. |
