Show STANDARDS OF MILK ARE TO BE DEFINED City Food Inspector Walter J. Frazlcr, through Councilman E. G. O'Donncll, presented pre-sented to the city council, at Its meeting Monday evening, an ordinance defining the standards of milk and butter and ln-4 tended to advance the standards of these food products In Salt Lake City. The ordinance throws a strong safeguard around the consumer. Mr. Black moved that the rules be suspended sus-pended and the ordinance read first, second sec-ond and third times and placed upon Its passage, but Mr. Hollcy, who Is a member mem-ber of the produce firm of John Hollcv & Co., sent up a howl against haste, and, at his request, tho ordinance went over for a week. Mr. Holley Is In favor of tho ordinance for the mo'st part, he explained, ex-plained, but wanted time to look into it. The ordinance prohibits the sale of milk the temperdturc of which Is 55 degrees Fahrenheit, requires milk to contain not less than S.2 per cent pure butter fat and 12 per cent solids, and cream not lesa than 13 per cent of butter fat. Butter I must contain not less than 80 per cent j pure butter fat. |
