Show SSI 'OFFICIALS ' STOPJSSALT LAKE Are on Their Way to Provo to : Attend Convention of iiu- nicipal League. j 1 THEY VISIT JAIL AXD j TAKE LOOK AT STREETS Effort Will Be Made hy- tho Logauitcs to Secure Next Meeting of League. i Salt Lake City was favored with a visit Monday by Mayor William Edwards and tho entire city government of Logan, who came hero to look Into several -questions which havo been disturbing 'the authorities authori-ties of tho "Athens of Utah." The parly, which is registered ut tho Kcnyon, Is composed of eighteen men, Including the officers of tho city government and members mem-bers of the council. Monday afternoon was passed In a tour of Inspection of tho city jail, where they wero shown about by Chief Barlow, and In inspecting tho city sewerage system In company with City Engineer Kelsey. and In looking over tho roads. There has been some talk of repairing tho jail at Logan and making it nioro up to date. The visit to tho city Jail was for the purpose pur-pose of obtaining t:omo pointers upon tills subject. During the day tho visitors called upon Governor Cutler to discuss the question: of Installing a sewer system at Logan and of the slate authorizing the Increase of the bonding power of cities to permit thorn to make this and other needed Improvements. Im-provements. As this would necessitate an amendment amend-ment to the state constitution, tho governor gov-ernor expressed the opinion that if the legislature will submit the proposition to vote, it will bo passed by tho people of the state. Jt Is his firm opinion that of all things the most important Is the health of the people; and that they should do what they can to make it possible for cities and towns to havo good water I and sewer systems. This is one of the j tnlngs for which th governor think3 1 public indebtedness is not only justifiable ! but commendable. Th council is also greatly Interested In tho good roads proposition, and the roads about tho city wore gono over, so far us the snow would permit. With the building of a magnificent summer hotel at Logan, that city will become tho mecca j of a large number of automoblllsts. and good roads will bo an absolute necessity. Today the mayor and his city council will go to Provo, where they arc to attend at-tend tho meeting of the Municipal tongue, which is to bo held thero today and tomorrow. to-morrow. All the mayors and city governments govern-ments of every city in the state will bo in attendance, and tho Logan delegation will put forth every possible effort to secure se-cure tho next mooting of tho league for their city.
