Show MAYOR OF SHERIDAN DIES IN A SNOWSTORM Special to Tho Tribune. CHEYENNE, Wyo., Dec. 2S. Ludlow B. Glafke, president of the Sheridan city council, this morning received a telegram requesting him to return to Sheridan Immediately, Im-mediately, as tho dead body of Mayor J. S. Taylor had been found near Sheridan, and Glafke, by virtue of his office, had becomo mayor. Glafke left for Sheridan Sheri-dan on the afternoon train. Details of tho death of Taylor stato that ho ' returned to Sheridan Monday from a trip to Denver and Cheyenne, and after leaving tho depot became lost In a blinding snowstorm and wandered away from the town. His body was found Christmas morning at a point near town, whero ho had either fallen from exhaustion ex-haustion and porlshcd from cold or had succumbed to heart disease. Taylor was ono of the most popular merchants of northern Wyominf. Ho was tv.'ice elected mayor of Sheridan on the Democratic ticket, recently receiving a re-election, although the town Is strongly Republican and the remainder of the Re- publican ticket carried. Early in tho present month he came to Choyenne to attend tho reunion of tho Wyoming Consistory Con-sistory No. 1, and at that time was elevated ele-vated to the thirty-second degroo of Masonry. From hero ho wont to Denver, and remained there until ho roturned to Sheridan and met death in the storm. |
