Show lames A. Heggi, Randi P. Hansen receive Johannes Pestalozzi awards at S U S G - James Albert Heggie, Raymond, Ray-mond, Alberta, Canada, and Randi Peterssn Hansen, Pleasant Plea-sant Grove, ar? 1971 recipients of the annual Johannes Pestalozzi Pest-alozzi Award bestowed by the Southern Utah State College Col-lege School of Education on top education majors. According to Dr. Morris A. Shirts, dean of the SUSC School of Education, "The annual an-nual Pestalozzi Award is made by the School of Education Educa-tion to the outstanding graduating grad-uating seniors in elementary and secondary education judged to have the greatest potential as teachers." Mr. Heggie received his Bachelor of Science degree at the 1971 SUSC Commencement as an Elementary Education major. Before transferring to SUSC in 1969 he attended Ricks College While at SUSC he served as advertising manager man-ager for the Tavi yearbook and was awarded a certificate of merit as "Outstanding Foreign Student." He was formerly employed on the office staff of Ellison Milling and Elevator Company Com-pany Limited, Lethbridge, Alberta, Al-berta, Canada. He has signed a contract to teach school for the Iron County School District Dis-trict in Cedar City next year. Mr. Heggie is married to the former LeBeana Bossert of Magrath, Alberta, Canada. The Heggies are the parents of three sons and a daughter, James 11, Thomas 8, Lori 6, and Travis one and one-half years old. Mr. Heggie is the son of Mr, and Mrs. Albert D. Heggie, Raymond. Mrs. Hansen received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Drama and plans to teach on the secondary level. She has appeared in major roles in a number of SUSC drama and music productions pro-ductions including "Camelot," "Fiddler on the Roof," "Once Upon a Mattress" and others. She was a guest artist for the 1970 Iron County March of Dimes benefit program and has been a member of the traveling Utah Shakespearean Festival costume show. Mrs. Hansen completed her education while her husband, James Hansen, Richfield, also former SUSC student, was ser-ving ser-ving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. She graduated with high honors. The Hansens are the parents of a daughter, Rochelle, two and one-half years old, Mrs. Hansen's parents par-ents are Mr. and Mrs. James Petersen, Pleasant Grove. f JAMES ALBERT HIGGIE SSG Frank E. Stastny, U.S. ! Army Recruiter in Cedar City j announced this week that Stacey Dee Church of Kanafo, has enlisted in the Army under un-der the Delayed Entry Program. Pro-gram. Church Is married to the former Pauline Leach, also of Kanab. He will enter the Aircraft Maintenance Field and will be initially assigned to Fort Rucker, Ala. After graduation he will be trained to work on one or more of the numerous types of Army aircraft. Under the program he will depart for basic training on August 12. |
