Decker, Assistant Professor, Political Science, Southern Utah State College, has been selected to participate partici-pate in the Ufban Affairs Institute at American University, Univer-sity, Washington, D.C. This will be, held June 14- July 23. The Institute is sponsored by American University, H.E.W. and H.U.D. of the Federal Government. The Institute will be made up of thirty -five persons from throughout the United States who ara prominent in education educa-tion and government service. Many will be specialists in the field of unban affairs. Some of the specific prdblems that will be examined are air pollution, the ghettos, population pop-ulation explosion, law enforcement, enforc-ement, and alienation of the old, poor, sick, and unwanted. Concrete recommendations as to possible solutions of the above will be published. Professor Decker joined the faculty at S.U.S.C. in 1965. He received his education at C.S.U., U.S.U., an the Univers-ity Univers-ity of Missouri. At the latter two institutions he served as a graduate and teachingassist-ant. teachingassist-ant. In March of this year Mr. Decker participated as a rapporteur for the Rocky Mountain Assembly on the State and Urban Crisis at U.S.U. The results of that Assembly have been published. publish-ed. Beginning this fall Professor Decker will take a leave of absence and sabbat- leal frpm S.U.S.C, to complete work on a Ph.D. degree in political science at the University Uni-versity of Utah.
