Show Cedar firemen honored at state confab When the smoke had cleared clear-ed from the 62nd Annual Utah State Firemen's Association convention held in Cedar City this past week the host Cedar City Volunteer Department had walked away . with a number of outstanding honors. The convention was deemed a complete success by Chief Orwin Green, who served as convention chairman. David Bentley of the Cedar City unit was elected to the position of Second Vice President Presi-dent of the state organization, a position which by tradition will advance him to the presidency pres-idency of the state-wide organization or-ganization in two years. In the auxiliary division of the convention Mrs. Leon Slaugh was elected as a two-year two-year director on the state board. , , Specially recognized at the awards banquet was Paul Stewart of Cedar City who was presented with a pin for 25 years of service with the Cedar City Volunteer Fire Department. De-partment. Tlie annual parade, which drew the widest interest of local lo-cal residents was also an a-ward a-ward winner for the Cedar City Groups. In the men's division di-vision the Cedar City department depart-ment was accorded honors-for the best comedy entry. In the auxiliary division it was Cedar Ce-dar City ladies walking off with honors for the best appearance, ap-pearance, one of the two trophies tro-phies presented. Most original entry for the auxiliary was won by the Murray department. depart-ment. Ogden captured honors in the parade for the best appearance ap-pearance for men theme of fire prevention and safety went to Salt Lake City and the best marching group was the Murray unit.
