Show FARMERS OPPOSE BILL. Objection Made to Establishment of Commission Com-mission to Control State's Waters. Special to The Tribune. PROVO, Feb. 6 The bill introduced in the house by Representative J. D. Hooper of Weber is stirring the users of water In Utah county. Counties south of hero will also register a strong objection. Practically every water user in this county with tho exception of the Provo Reservoir company has expressed opposition opposi-tion to the measure. The chief objection lo the bill Is that it will readjust the existing rights of water users and many of these have boon secured after long1 litigation and heavy expense. They will also oppose tho division of tho state into districts and a supervisor over each section to co-operate with the stale engineer in cases of dispute. The water users here bellevo that this would be moro expensive than the present method. The water isera in this section admit that this would bo a good law for a now country, where the rights were not already established. |
