Show VISITOR IS PLEASED with mm. CITY Representative of German Company Gives His Impressions Im-pressions of Zion. G. W. Moyor, representing J. Hecker-mann Hecker-mann of Bremen and Hamburg, Germany, Ger-many, who is foreign representative for the Missouri. Kansas Texas railway company and for tho North Gorman-Lloyd Gorman-Lloyd Steamship company that oueiales between Bremen and Galveston, is a visitor vis-itor in Salt Lako City. Mr. Meyer was accompanied here from Denver by S. Halllno, commercial agent at Denver for the Missouri, Kan.s.iH & Texas. When seen In tho Hotel Utah yesterday, .Mr. Moyor said: I am In this country to study traf-- traf-- flc conditions and to establish closer relations with firms that do business busi-ness with German manufacturers. Our firm works in connection with the steamship and railway companies and the big manufacturers of Germany Ger-many and our effort Is to Induce American firms to deal directly vllh the German manufacturers. Wt would do away with tho mlddlo man. As an evidence of the business being be-ing done by our companies, I have just been Informed that after March 1. 1913. there will be one of our big ships arrive in Galveston from Bremen Bre-men once every tbreo weeks Instead of once every five weeks, which Is tho present regular service. At Galveston, Gal-veston, the sblim aro unlonded directly direct-ly onto "Kftty" trains and rushed. in the direction of Denver and Sail. Lake City. We have the closest port and consequently the ouickest route from Germany to the intcrmountaln country. My object in coming here Is principally prin-cipally to study Import traffic conditions con-ditions and I have visited all of tho largor ports of tho east. I came here about two years ago and in addition to tho porta have been in most of thu large citios of tlie eastern part of the United State and Canada. I camo hero from Denver today and am going go-ing to the Pacific coasl, where I expect ex-pect to remain about two months before be-fore returning to Germany, It socms to me that Salt Lake City is .lust starting to bo n largo city, with large Ideas and a wcndorful future. fu-ture. The business houses here are just beginning to establish direct communication with foreign manufacturers manu-facturers and when they are thoroughly thor-oughly established you will note a difference in prices as the profit of tbo middle man will bo stopped. I notice that Denver is planning an Indian pngeaut to attract foreigners and eastern tourists who are expecting expect-ing to attend the Panama-Pacific ox-position ox-position in San Francisco. It is evident evi-dent that they hope by so doing to attract tbe vlsltora and I think that Salt Lake City would do well to arrange ar-range something of a different character, char-acter, but wltb tho same end in view. I am favorably Impressed with what I havo seen during the two years that I have been here and I like Salt Lake City. This hotel compares com-pares favorably wltb hotels in eastern east-ern cities and iu foreign countries. My vlBlt will bo short tills time, as I leave tomorrow for San Francisco, but T expect to come here again and shall then stay longer. |
