LENA MAY VENTER rents, faculties and staffs of not only this school year but the many in the past wish to thank him for his support and dedication towards education. Lena May Venter is retiring after 20 years of service in the school lunch program. She began working at West High School and later transferred to Woods Cross Elementary. Mrs. Venter has been unit manager of the school lunch program at Woods Cross Elementary Elemen-tary for 14 years. Her staff under her says she has been a delightful GEORGE P. MARCHANT person to work with. Besides working at the school Mrs. Venter has worked part time at the Centerville J.C. Penney store in the linen department. The PTA and faculty would especially like to thank May for her cooperative attitude in helping with all the 'extra' assignments such as cupcakes for birthdays, refreshments re-freshments for special programs and much more. May Venter was married to the late Don Ventor. They have two children, Lynn Venter and Colleen Parkin. The Woods Cross Elementary faculty, staff and PTA are hosting an open house in honor of the retirement re-tirement of George P. Marchant and Lena May Venter on Wednesday, Wednes-day, May 27, 4:30-6:30 p.m., Woods Cross Elementary, 745 W. 1100 S., Woods Cross. Friends, associates and members of the community are invited to drop by and thank Mr. Marchant and Mrs. Ventor for their years of service in the Davis County School District. Geroge P. Marchant is retiring after 35 years of service in the Davis County School District. He began his career in education in 1952 as a teacher at Layton Elementary. Since then he has' taught in the fifth and sixth grades at South Bountiful, Tolman, and Holbrook Elementary Schools. In 1963 he became principal of Boulton Elementary. In 1969 he received re-ceived principalship of Farmington Elementary. During his 13 years at Farmington Elementary he participated partici-pated in the opening of their new school. In 1982 Mr. Marchant became principal of Woods Cross Elemen-tary. Elemen-tary. While at Woods Cross Elementary he had his second opportunity to open a new school. In addition to his new responsibilities responsi-bilities as principal Mr. Marchant has served as president and secretary secret-ary of the Davis County Association Associa-tion of Elementary Principals, been a member of the Utah Elementary Principal's Associa-. tion and the Citizen's Advisory Committee, served on several curriculum cur-riculum committees in the district. For the past three years Mr. Marchant has been the Federal Relations Re-lations Coordinator for the Utah State Principals Assoc., representing represent-ing them in Washington, D.C. During Dur-ing the 1985-86 school year, Mr. Marchant was recognized as one of the outstanding principals by the Davis PTA Council. George Marchant has truly been an asset to the Davis County School District. The students, pa- |
