Show I V1 V !? a Staff photos by Gary BkxJgett South Davis Community Hospital Administrator Gordon Bennett presents plaque, other honors to Employee of the Year Dee Salisbury of Woods Cross. Named Employee of Year5 BOUNTIFUL South Davis Community Hospital's new "employee "em-ployee of the year" received the honor in a state of shock. Deamileen Salisbury of Woods Cross admits "I really hadn't thought about the possibility" when she was invited to a party Thursday where the announcement announce-ment would be made. A housekeeper in the pediatrics department, she has worked at South Davis for about three years and says, "I like to keep very, very busy. I feel I'm doing a job for the kids and for those I work for. "I feel fulfilled. There's always something to do," the Sun Valley, Idaho, area native says. "I really like the kids. You know if they like you even if they can't talk there's a little look in their eyes," she says. "They're a lot like my own kids, I get so attached and feel bad when they're sick." The honor came with not only a plaque but also a ZCMI gift certificate, certifi-cate, another from the Hotel Utah and a check. And the silk flower arrangement "goes beautifully in my just-finished home," she beams. Mrs. Salisbury and husband Bill have three children: Shawna, a Woods Cross High School graduate gradu-ate now working at J.C. Penneys; Brad, 13, a South Davis Junior High School student working to complete his Eagle Scout requirements require-ments and Don, 1 1 , a Woods Cross Elementary School student who enjoys bicycling. Husband Bill works at Flying J. She enjoys fishing but is looking for a new place to pursue it, having given up on Strawberry Reservoir. In addition, she enjoys quilting, baking cookies and cakes and making mak-ing candy. "The neighborhood loves me," she quips. But a big motto with her is "always "al-ways trying to improve myself that's the main thing." She will earn her high school diploma June 9 and hopes to attend Salt Lake Community College for further education. For many years she worked as a school volunteer, tutoring in classes clas-ses and in the PTA, but decided it was "time to do something else" as her children were getting older. "I like working, being out and about with other people," she adds. |
