Show Bountiful poets take honors stairs in the Bountiful Library. Maxine Shreve earned a special recognition for "Weight of Frustration" in Categ- Winners of the Utah State Poetry Poet-ry Society's annual contest were recognized recently at the Poetry Festival held at the Excelsior Hotel in Provo on April 17 and 18. The Bountiful Chapter is proud to announce that eleven of the prize winning poems were written by members of their group, the Rhyme and Reason Chapter. Kolette Montague was awarded an honorable mention in the book category for "Sparrow Song" and in category 7 for her poem "Homemade." "Home-made." She received special recognition rec-ognition in category 8 for "Desert Longing" and "Thoughts on a Folding Chair at a Two Hour Lecture" Lec-ture" and in category 9, third place for "Shifting Sands." Marlene Fairchild took first place in the newcomer category for "Clouds of Yosemite." Helen Noble No-ble received first honorable mention men-tion in the same category for "Lioness, "Lio-ness, Brought Down" and second place in category 17, "Her Husband's Hus-band's Mother's Son." ' |
