Show Crooner Returns to Theater Where Once Worked for $18 Weekly New York's palatial Paramount Para-mount Theater is taking back one of its ushers who quit two years ago. He'll start Christmas Christ-mas Eve, Dec. 24. Vic Damone Is the young man's name as aU Broadway will know when it flashes on the Paramount "marquee proclaiming pro-claiming Tiim as star of the stage show. The last time Damone worked for the Paramount Theater he made $18 a week plus some scattered scat-tered dimes from a few generous gener-ous movie-goers. His weekly salary is well up in four figures with a percentage box office bonus. Since Producer-director ROr land Martini picked Damone last July to star on CBS's crack week-end musical, "Saturday Night Serenade," the young baritone bar-itone has become one of radio's top-ranking singers. He has been hailed by the critics as the "radio find of the year." |
