Show AMERICAN LEGION H'PiNtF It Sugar House Post No. 65 xS$p& By "Mack" Comrade R. S. McGhie and his wife are leaving to niakp their home in Manhattan Beach, Calif. All the gang extend their best wishes to this grand couple. The seventh annual past officers of-ficers party of the auxiliary was held last Wednesday evening eve-ning a the Rock Castle. Retiring Retir-ing Unit President, Mrs. Thel-ma Thel-ma Jolley was presented with a pin by the past junior president, Mrs. Marguerite Davis, Mrs. Jolley also received a corsage given by the present unit president, pres-ident, Mrs. Hamilton. The table was laid out in the form of an immense U and the color was blue and gold, which are the official of-ficial Legion colors. The centerpiece cen-terpiece was composed of large "mums," in a gold vase. Programs Pro-grams of blue lettering on white paper with gold cord and tas-sles, tas-sles, were hand made and lettered let-tered by Mrs: Ruby Millgate. The after-dinner entertainment was excellent, after which Monte Carlo Whist was enjoyed. The president of the unit, Mrs. Hamilton, gave the address of welcome, and Mrs. Kroll, who is chaplain for the unit said grace for the banquet. Adjutant! Wignall has called to our attention that quite a number of the addresses of last year's members are incorrect, and he would like all former members that ,have moved during dur-ing the last year or so to contact con-tact himself or some of the members' and have the 'address corrected. Mrs. Ruby Millgate entered the Holy "Cross Hospital at 7:30 on the morning of the fourth to undergo an operation. We extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Chaplain Bringhurst reports that he visited Comrade Leo Armstrong at the L. D. S. Hospital Hos-pital last Sunday evening at the same time making a call on several sev-eral others confined there. During Dur-ing his visit he met the commander com-mander and chaplain of the D. Miller Colored Post 109, who extended ex-tended to our post members a standing invitation to attend their meetings which are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays Tues-days of each month. This post has a membership of over 60 members at the present time. A flag rasing service will be held at the city and county building on Armistice Day at 9 a.m., with our drum and bugle corps furnishing the music. mu-sic. After these services the group will form and march to the Tabernacle for further activities. activ-ities. All members are requested to attend this civic event and help to make it a grand success. Commander Grubb is making arrangements for the conducting conduct-ing funerals of two of the deceased-veterans that are being returned. In the case of the first pall bearers, firing squad, and bugler will take parts in all about 16 members with uniforms uni-forms will be needed. For the other a bugler and two members mem-bers to fold the flag are request-' request-' ed. So members with uniforms please contact the commander and assist him. Tickets for the Get Acquainted Acquaint-ed party to be held in Memory 'Grove the night of Armistice Day are being mailed to all members of the post. A nice program is being lined up for this dance so be there and you will not regret it. Also want to call your attention atten-tion to the joint meeting with Post No. 2 at their club house on Nov. 20. Lunch and refreshments refresh-ments will be served. Mary Dell and Margretta Kroll attended as delegates to the Salt Lake Council of Women's Wom-en's Organizations which was held in the Public Library on Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. Mrs. Dell served on the registration committee com-mittee and states that there were 117 ladies registered for the meeting. The purpose of this organization is to discuss and assist in civic affairs for the community. i |
