The Holladay Lions Club, under Chairman Don Archer and his able committee, really ( gave the children of the Holla-day Holla-day community a bangup party par-ty on Hallowe'en at the lighted ball park on the Holladay School grounds. . A very funny clown, com-) munity singing, a dog act that was a thrill to all the youngsters, and the biggest bonfire you ever saw, went in to make this party a big success. It was a colorful sight to behold, and with the aid of a sound truck it could be heard for a mile. The Lady Lions ore to be highly complimented for their excellent work. With the help , of the fellow Lions, they served refreshments which consisted of peanuts, all-day suckers, apples, doughnuts and apple cider. Eight hundred children were served. Approximately 1200 people, including parents were I there. Prizes were donated by the Holladay residents and merchants mer-chants and apples hy fellow I Lions. Let's not forget to thank the connty recreation people and county sheriff for their help. Lion Don Archer w-onld like to thank the committeemen and fellow Lions who had any part in making this party a success. The Harvest Hall is now underway. un-derway. The place is tentatively tentative-ly set at the Avalon Ballroom, approximately one mile south of Jordan High School. This Harvest Har-vest Ball is for all the citizens of. Holladay. Each and every one in our community is urged to buy tickets to the ball to help your community builders to continue with the fine conv munity events, that have been our pleasure this fall season-Watch season-Watch this column for further developments. Thursday, Xov. 13, our meeting meet-ing will be held with the Lady Lions. This alone will build up our attendance 50 per cent as the Lady Lions seem to always add to our meetings. Capt Schenk will be the speaker and from advance notice his program pro-gram is an event that no Lion can afford to miss. The attendance prizes will be donated by Lions Don Archer, Earl Belnap and Reese Baird. Lion Kimbal Vance has heen fortunate in obtaining a man who makes introductions of famous fa-mous men his life work. Don't fail to come out and meet this man who has such an outstanding outstand-ing talent. You will be surprised, surpris-ed, I promise. Last week Lions Don Harking, Paul Cannon and Bob Mnlhol-land Mnlhol-land were winners in the attendance attend-ance drawings. Lucky guys. |
