Show Worthy of Emulation In the opinion of veteran observers last Hallowe'en was one of the quietest, most orderly of many, many years. No little credit goes to the organizations who this year made earnest efforts to combat vandalism by combining good entertainment with constructive con-structive programs of fun for all, young and old alike. From The Bulletin's vantage point, one of the most outstanding outstand-ing programs for youngsters was the Hallowe'en eve fiesta put on by the Holladay Lions. Over 1200 young, old and middle aged folks gathered at the Holladay School grounds to enjoy the program. pro-gram. The Lions, as usual, presented an evening's entertainment entertain-ment that never let down. A huge bonfire, vaudeville acts, prize judgings, communify singing and plenty of refreshments made the holiday a memorable one for all who attended. This example of community spirit is one that mfly well be emulated by every service and social organization in the city. The Holladay Lions, by taking the lead in this project, soon got the backing of the community at large. Merchants donated valuable gifts for prizes. School authorities and parents alike encouraged the children to attend the festivities. The county recreation department de-partment and the local police force offered their assistance. And so the idea grey from a purely organizational undertaking into a community project. |
