Show Sports Specialties By "Pete" any wind and last but not least, you don't have to climb a hill after skiing all day to reach your parked car. I'm looking forward for some real skiing in Brighton. GOLFING BLUES What this town needs is a good eighteen hole golf course. It' might not pay off during the oarlv morning play but it would relieve the congestion of the courses in the afternoon. Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon it took us two hours and fifteen minutes to play six holes! Then, too, we went through two foursomes. Tf that is going to be the case I think I'll sell my clubs and go into archery for keeps. There seems to be a mixup on golf balls on overy hole where two holes lie parallel to each other. I'lay was held up on several holes because the golfers didn't know what ball they were shooting. . Another foursome spent ten minutes looking for a hall that was on the fairway and they looked in the rough. So many golfers don't seem to realize that players are right behind be-hind them and want to get through, too. That brings up the story of the golfer who came up to a match and politely asked. "May I go through, my house is on fire." TENNIS TOURNEY The Utah Valley Tennis Tourament which opened May 29, should prove to be very interesting. in-teresting. Several out-of-state players are on hand and all the big shots of our state have en- tered. The Sixth Army tourney was postponed in Frisco so Capt. Hippensteil will be on hand to defend his laurals. To try to pick the winner of this tournament would be foolish. It is certain to be wide open. CHANGES IN ARCHERY RANGE After shooting our new Archery Arch-ery Course at Hogle Zoo, there are several changes to be made. One change I know of that will have to be done is to put sod butts in 'place of straw. After the days shooting was over some young kids set fire to a target and watched it burn. We win nave to put oooDy traps on all targets after this when we leave them. BRIGHTON SCOOP The news that I was told to i hold last week came out in the Tribune this week about Brighton. Brigh-ton. That alone will put the pine-studded resort on a par with most any ski area in the country. Brighton has good : snow and plenty of it, hardly |
