Stegncr, a graduate and former instructor of the University of Utah has been elected a member of Utah's Alpha Al-pha chapter of Phi P.eta Kappa, honorary scholastic fraternity. He is the first alumnus to be elected. We hav. in Sprague IJranch two of his books: "Mormon "Mor-mon Country," and "Big Rock Candy Mountain." We haven't here his prize winning novel "Remembering Laughter," published pub-lished in 1937. This novel won a $2,500 from T.ittle Hrown Co., publishers. He is now teaching at Stanford University. To be released Monday, June 2. A new Rivers of America series ser-ies "The Colorado" was written by Frank Waters and is going out in circulation on Monday.. He portrays a very real and vivid viv-id picture of Colorado River country, and gives in an interesting inter-esting way, some surprising Ralph Conover Lankier, D. D. is a collection of Dr. Lankler'sl stories which he has used in the nondenominational Church of Quaker Hill in New York. Lowell Lo-well Thomas in the introduction of the t)Ook tells how everyone goes to this church everybody everybo-dy in the neighborhood, including includ-ing Gov. Thomas E. Dewey of New York. He also tells how Dr. Lankier holds the children of his congregation spellbound by these religious stories. Have you ever read Fred Oth-man's Oth-man's (Frederick C.) feature stories about Hollywood? If you have read them, you will be interested in-terested in his autobiography which has been named "Man on the Half Shell" If you haven't read anything of his, you will enjoy his short humorous and human stories. "Toil of the Brave" is the fourth of Inglis Fletcher's historical his-torical novels the scene AJ-bermarle AJ-bermarle district of North Carolina Caro-lina and like the first (Raleigh's ..... , . i .L.I statistics'. However, it would be interesting to invite Mr. Waters to Utah and introduce to him some other histories besides the one listed in his bibliography. Devon Francis in his "The Story of the Helicopter" believes that the helicopter will be developed to the point where people generally will be able to use them. Miss Loring's books always provide pro-vide entertaining and interesting interest-ing reading. Robert Nathan's new book "Mr. Whittle and the Morning Star" tells of Mr. Whittle (who is history instructor in a small college) and his belief that the end of the world is coming soon.
