Show 'Out East Mill Creek Way' By Frances Noff and Mary Osjjuthorpe Shirley Cottrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raphael Cottrell, 2239 East 3205 South, had the distinction to win the Seminary award given the senior seminary sem-inary student who has been outstanding out-standing in citizenship. The award was presented last Saturday Sat-urday night, May 24, at the annul an-nul graduation exercises. Speaking of the seminary, one of our East Mill Creek girls won the 2nd vice-presidency in the recent elections lield for their parents make appointments appoint-ments for them to see the dentist den-tist and obtain what work needs to be done. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Pixton are planning a trip back east, to take place in the very near future. fu-ture. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Xeff, now living in Ogdon, have named their newest addition, born May 2, Julianne Xeff. Getting back to seminary again ,the following were honored hon-ored at the graduation exercises, exer-cises, held May 24: (They are all from East Mill Creek Stake.) Scott Beesley, J. William Bow-ring Bow-ring Jr., Jo Anne Brewer, Dar-lene Dar-lene Bunkall, Maurice Capson, Paul Christensen, Janice Clay-son, Clay-son, Shirley Cottrell, Dixie Dan-sie, Dan-sie, Jack Ehlers, Dong Erickson, next year's officers. She was Barbara Yfoodhead, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Verl AYoodhead, 2234 East 33S0 South. The Sherman School really hit the headlines last Saturday night in the Deseret Xews when they featured the dental program pro-gram that has been carried on there. A number of years ago the P. T. A. organization got together to-gether with Principal Lee An- Margaret Gee, Lois Graham, xa-don xa-don Greaves, Wayne Gygi, Virginia Vir-ginia Hairstou, Donna Carol Moss, Mary Moss, Arleen Xess, Virginia Sondrup, Steven Straw, Andrew Richard Watson, Marie Glora White. Mi-, and Mrs. Bozell Coons, 3017 1845 East, have announced the engagement of their daugh-Continued daugh-Continued on Page 5 derson and decided that something some-thing needed to be done about the teeth of their children, so they got Dr. Munn Q. Cannon, an East Mill Creek resident dentist, to examine the teeth of all Sherman School students and make a note of what needed need-ed to be done. Since that early start the students have taken it upon themselves to see that EAST MILL CREEK means various things to different differ-ent people. To Barbara Ec-cles and Jianniue Worthi'n it means packing grips and traveling to Grand Canyon where they will bide their time this summer waiting on tables, plus oceaj-sionally oceaj-sionally displaying their talents on the side. To Xina Lous Xeff is means getting briefed on the keeping of records, as she is now a typist for the Genealogical Genealog-ical Society. For Elayne Waller it has brought a stenography position with the F. C. Danhken Jewelry Company. For Doug Erickson it means full time work for the Tod Ice Company for a little while at least. And there are others who are finding that jobs are becoming scarcer all the time, but don't give up kids, there's still quite a bit of shoe leather left, and so long as that holds up, you can just keep applying. Just in case you people of East Mill Creek aren't aware of the fine name being made for E. M. C. at the "U," let's take this opportunity of informing you. Last week four girls from our community received the honor of being tapped to Spurs, the women's Sophomore honorary organization. They are: Belva Barlow, Shirley Chainberlin, Jeannine Davis, and Lueillc Nate. The community com-munity congratulates these girls and wishes them good luck in their new endeavor. Spurs, let's see some East Mill Creek-ers Creek-ers sitting in some front-row seats at the football games next fall. OK?
