Show American Legion Sugar House Post No. 65 By Carl Springman Elections of officers was held May 22 at the regular meeting of Post 65, American Legion, at the Rock Castle. The following comrades com-rades were elected: Commander, Command-er, John C. Grubb, Sr., first vice comamnder, Ernest Millgate; second sec-ond vice commander, Keith E. Bateman; finance officer, Franklin Frank-lin E. Holladay; chaplain, How- I ard Bringhurst; historian, Lin-I Lin-I ford W. Jolley; service officer, Thomas A. Hawkes: sergeant-at-arms, C. I. Flanders: and executive execu-tive committee, Paul E. Beecher and Stiles C. Mills. ' i Several films --were shown aft-! aft-! er the meeting by Comrade John Astin of the army recruiting service. The Legion dinner date has been changed from June 12 to June 19. Drum and bugle corps practice prac-tice was held Monday, May 26, j at Fairmont Park. It was well attended. Majorette Virginia Gi'ubb took charge in the absence of Drum Major Keith Bateman, who was in Los Angeles on business. bus-iness. Comrade Carl Brown took care of business matters. The corps will participate in Memorial Memo-rial Day services, May 30. The flag will be raised at 7 a'.m. at the Sugar House Plaza after which the firine sauad will salute the departed veterans at the Etesian Gardens. Poppies and flags will be placed on all veterans graves. Later tht afternoon after-noon at 4:30 the drum and bugle corps will participate in the memorial me-morial activity at Memory Grove. The following evening, on May 31, the corps will assemble! at Murray for the district convention. |
