Show Band School Op&ns In S. II. June 7 Of interest to all -soulAeast-musicians and would-be musicians music-ians in the announcement from the Sugar House Music Center, 2130 So. 11th East, that the Clarence J. Hawkins band and instrument school has moved to that location and will be giving lessons there beginning Saturday, Satur-day, June 7. Mr. Hawkins will establish his office within a few days and will be available for consultation consulta-tion and registration. Private lessons, which will be given in the afternoon and evening beginning be-ginning June 7, are designed to give the beginner or advanced student musician the training he needs. There will be two lessons a week for five weeks at a summer rate of $12.50. J Band school will start June 9 from 7:30 to noon every day. Three hours private practice will be given, featuring ear training, melody writing, and band practice. Continuing until un-til July 12, the course tuition will be $25, which will also include in-clude trips. A class in strings is also available. Mr. Hawkins said. Sixteen rooms downstairs in the Sugar House Music Co. have been turned over to Mr. Hawkins Hawk-ins and his school, according to A. W. "Mickey" Hart, manager, who added that instruments could be rented for a small fee. Mr. Hawkins has conducted his classes every year for 35 years except during World War I when army service took him away for 2 years. |
