New-comers Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kimball's home was destroyed by fire Monday morning. At present pres-ent details are unavailable, but we wish to take this opportunity to extend our sympathy to these unfortunate un-fortunate people. Sunday visitors at the Marvin Shields home were Mr. and Mrs. Verl Roper and son, Allan, of Bluebell, and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Ross, of Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande Gilbert entertained at dinner Sunday, honoring hon-oring Mr. and Mrs. Willard Dear-don Dear-don of Bingham. Mrs. Rose Gilbert and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gilbert of Myton, were guests also. Carol Larsen attended the football foot-ball game at Price between Union and Carbon. A Primary Preparation meeting was held at the church house Friday Fri-day night. Barbara Gilbert gave the lesson. Ronnie Calvin, of Salt Lake, is visiting at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tanner. JOINT MEETING The Sunday School and M.I.A. held their joint Faculty meeting Monday evening at the church house. Those attending were Irvin Johnson, Rulon Gilbert, Lynn Lamar La-mar Ross, Lois Terpening, Naomi Gilbert, John Gilbert, Donna Ross, Ida and Marva Mae Horrocks, Bishop Bish-op Garn Gilbert, Gladys Capson, Merle Ross, Sherrie Gilbert, Marsha Mar-sha Lusty and Eleanor Capson. DUP HAS MEETING Ora Holgate and Grace Larsen were co-hostesses at a DUP meeting meet-ing held at the home of Mrs. Hol-gate. Hol-gate. Eight members were present: Ora Holgate, Grace Larsen, Margaret Mar-garet Ross, Vera Larsen and Ida Horrocks of Arcadia; Ethel Taylor, Myrl Smith and Lois Stansfield of Bridgeland. Oscar Adams, of Hurricane, was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ross, Saturday. Mrs. Lois Terpening took some of the Myton teachers to UEA in Salt Lake City. BYRON GILBERT HONORED Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert received re-ceived word that their son, Byron, had heen elected president of the Stockmen's Club at the BYU. He was one of four chosen to go on a judging tour, which will' take in some of the larger cities, including includ-ing Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland. Naomi Gilbert attended UEA in Salt Lake City. She was accompanied accom-panied by her mother, Mrs. Cecilia Gilbert, who visited Mr. and Mrs. Max Mullins. Mrs. Geneva Gilbert and daughter, Tenna, also accom panied them. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs Lynn Miller. While in Salt Lake, Mrs. Cecelia Gilbert attened . the general Sunday School convention held at Barrett Hall. President and Mrs. Hale Holgate, Donna Ross, Beverly Olsen, Carol Larsen and Gary Thompson attended attend-ed the Hunters' Ball in Duchesne Friday night. The dance was under un-der the auspicies of the stake Elders. El-ders. Prizes were given away to those holding lucky numbers. Irvin Ir-vin Johnson was the fortunate one to hold the lucky 30-30 rifle ticket, tick-et, Lynn Lamar Ross a red sweat shirt and R. G. Ross settled for a hunting knife. Friends and classmates of Carol Memmott of Roosevelt were very happy to learn she had recovered from her recent illness sufficiently that she could return home from the hospital in Salt Lake City. IT'S ROUND-UP TIME It's that time again cattle men are getting their cattle from the summer range. Joining the trek to the mountains this week have been Bishop Garn Gilbert, John Gilbert, R. G. and Stanley Ross, Arch Larsen and Rudy Marti of Arcadia, Bishop Ralph Shields and 'Boyd Freston of Roosevelt. Orlo and John Richens left Sunday Sun-day for Salt Lake City, where they have employment for a while. Visiting in Salt Lake City during dur-ing the week were Mr. and -Mrs. Ray Kimball Dinner guests at the Milt Larsen Lar-sen home were Mr. and Mrs. Myron My-ron Mower and sons, of Provo. Mrs. Mower is a daughter. I Rejoicing over the arrival of a son and heir are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shields. The young 6'2 lb. gentleman gentle-man arrived at the Roosevelt Hospital Hos-pital Sunday at 4 a.m. Among the many visitors who will be clamoring clamor-ing to see him will be his grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wanl'ess Shields and Mr. and Mrs. Glendon Lamb of Bridgeland; also his great-grandparents, great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Shields of Arcadia. The young mother was formerly Adele Lamb. Mr. and Mrs. Royal Burt, of Farmington, New Mexico, are guests of Mr. and Mrs .Arch Larsen. Lar-sen. Mrs. Burt is the former Wilda Bell, and a sister of Mrs. Larsen. Mrs. Rudy Marti spent a few days in Salt Lake City visiting and taking care of business. Mr. and Mrs Chad Evans took their infant son, Tony Chad, to Salt Lake to consult a baby specialist. spe-cialist. The doctor deemed it advisable ad-visable to leave the babe in the hospital for observation. After being be-ing there several days, it was decided de-cided the tiny one needed an operation, oper-ation, however he wasn't strong enough to undergo one at the present time. He has been returned to his home and everyone is hoping hop-ing he can soon show signs of improvement. im-provement. Hugh Evans, a student at the "Y" spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arden Ev- . ans. He accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Jensen, of American Fork, who spent the weekend with the Bill Tanners. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Dearden, of Bingham Canyon, and Mrs. Rose Gilbert of Myton, visited with Mrs. Merle Ross, Sunday afternoon. |
