Show Sportsmen A vait Fishing Season Opener Although some fishermen in the Uintah Basin have had an opportunity to soak their lines and polish up their poles and reels since May 2, when Lake Borham was officially opened, they are still waiting the big opening on June 6, when most lakes and streams in the State of Utah officially open. According to the official proclamation pro-clamation issued recently, the following information will be found interesting to anglers who enjoy the opportunities in the Uintah Basin for fishing. WateTs open to angling other than regular reg-ular season, according to the proclamation are: Duchesne County; Borham Lake, May 2, 1953 through October 11, 1953. Brown Duck Lakes and tributary tribu-tary streams; Brown Duck Creek and Lake Fork Creek drainages above Moon Lake, Rock Creek drainage above Upper Up-per Still Waters; North Fork of the Duchesne River drainage and Iron Mines Creek drainage above the confluence of said streams; West Fork of the Duchesne Du-chesne and Wolf Creek dainage above confluence of the said streams; Yellowstone Creek drainage above the R.E.A. dam. Uinta River drainage above Davis Ranch in Uinta Park open to angling June 27, 1953, through October 11, 1953; Strawberry River from its confluence con-fluence with Avintaquin Creek to Sulphur Springs, a point approximately ap-proximately two and one:half miles above Timber Canyon and one and one-half miles below Slab Canyon, shall be open to angling from June 6, 1953 through August 2, 1953. Uintah County: Waters open to angling other than regular season: Montez Reservoir, Res-ervoir, May 2, 1953, through October 11, 1953; Whiterocks River drainage, including Paradise Para-dise Park, from the Merrimon Ranch upper fence to source; Dry Fork of Ashley Fork Creek; North Fork of Dry Fork of Ashley Ash-ley Creek; East Fork of Dry Fork of Ashley Creek, drainages drain-ages above their confluence; Ashley Creek drainage above confluence with Rock Canyon; Brush Creek drainage above gorge, Little Brush Creek drainage drain-age above Vernal-Manila highway high-way crossing open to angling June 27, 1953, through October 11, 1953. Daggett County: Waters open to angling other than regular season: Carter Creek drainage from a point one mile above Vernal-Manila highway high-way crossing to source and Sheep Creek drainage from a point one mile down Vernal-Manila Vernal-Manila road crossing to source, open to angling June 27, 1953 through October 11, 1953. This includes Spirit Lake, Tamarack Lake, Daggett Lake, and all other lakes in the drainage areas. ar-eas. J Hours open for angling during 1953 are from 5 a.m. to' 9 p.m. F & S Utes Set Regulations The Ute Indians have set up their 1953 fishing regulations for the Uintah and Ouray reservations reser-vations in Duchesne and Uintah counties. The regulations were approved ap-proved by the Ute Tribal Fish and Game Board. Special fishing fees for the reservation are1 $3 for the season. sea-son. All non-Indians fishing within with-in the boundaries of the Uintah and Ouray Indian reservations must conform to the rules and regulations governing seasons, hours, daily bag limit, possession posses-sion limit, etc., as prescribed by the Utah State Fish and Game Commission and the Ute Tribal Fish and Game Board, the regulations state. Anyone contemplating fishing fish-ing on Indian lands, should check with officials there for other special provisions of the proclamation. F & S 1-Year Residence Required Newcomers to Utah must now reside in the state one year before be-fore they are eligible to purchase? pur-chase? resident fishing and hunting hunt-ing licnses. This law is part of the new fish and game code. Previously 90 days was the required re-quired time. This is only one of the many I changes made in the new code I to conform with the rules and regulations of most other states. F & S Deer Season Set The 1953 regular deer season will start on Saturday. October 17th. Length of the season and other special regulations will be determined after five district meetings, scheduled during June in various parts of the state. F & S Fishing and combination fishing fish-ing and hunting licenses for 1953 are1 now being mailed from the Utah Fish and Game Department De-partment offices to the approximately approxi-mately 500 license dealers over the state. All dealers will be supplied by the last day of May. New licenses are due June 1st. Commission action earlier this spring extended the use of 1952 fishing licenses until the 1953 issue was available. Delay beyond - the April 15 deadline for purchase of new licenses I came about because of changes required by a legislative act earlier in the year. |
