These ladies - are receiving training in foods, clothing, home furnishing, and many other subjects sub-jects of interest to the ladies, c A c Fertilizer tests conducted n Duchesne County show that increased in-creased yields of alfalfa may be obtained on most farms with the use of phosphate fertilizer, and apply it this fall. Recent tests show about the same response re-sponse from the late fall application ap-plication or early spring. Probably Prob-ably one of the biggest advantages advan-tages of fall application is the availability of fertilizer. In recent re-cent years it has been difficult and sometimes impossible to obtain ob-tain fertilizer in the sprinft. This is because mbse people wait to purchase these things until they are planting their spring crops. By purchasing your fertilizer now you will be sure of getting what you want. Fall application on established' establish-ed' stands of alfalfa and pastures pas-tures is especially good because fall and winter moisture helps carry the fertilizer materials down into the root zone. cAc Shipping fever or Hemorrhagic Hemor-rhagic Septicemia is causing some loss in our cattle again this fall. Rex Gardner, of Neola, had a serious outbreak of this last week. Animals become susceptible to this disease especially at this time of year when they are moved mov-ed from dry, high-altitude rang-1 rang-1 es to good pastures and better feed in the lower valleys. This disease affects the lungs making it difficult for the animals an-imals to breathe It can be prevented pre-vented by vaccination about 10 days before moving the cattle. The use of serum in the early stages will prevent loss in ?omc cases. Sick animals should not be vaccinated, since this is likely like-ly to cause their death. |
