Show lit Indian Father Ms Wife, SeEf In Colorado Double funeral services were held in Whiterocks this morning. morn-ing. Oct. 16, at 10 a. m. for victims of a tragedy that occurred oc-curred in Cortez, Colo.. Saturday Satur-day when Hughes Penning Jack, 37, shot his wife. Vera Atwine Jack, 39, to death and then turned the gun on himself. The double killing took place at a filling station near Cortez. Services for the couple, who were members of the Ute Indian In-dian tribe, were held in the Whiterocks Chapel, Church of levus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by Clyde Merkley. Bur-al Bur-al was in the Ft, Duchesne cemetery, cem-etery, under the direction of the Olpin Mortuary of Roosevelt. Roose-velt. Mr. Jack was born in September, Sep-tember, 1915, in Ft. Duchesne, a son of Penning and Jeannie Checora Jack. He lived most of his life in .the Whiterocks area. He is survived by the following follow-ing children: Maxine.' Robert, Clorinda and Myra Jack, by a previous marriage; Jocketta, Hubert Hu-bert and Shelia Jack; three brothers: Wallace and Roger Jack and Bobby Cuch, all of Whiterocks. Mrs. Jack was born Dec. 24, 1913, at Farm Creek. Uintah County, a daughter of Henderson Hender-son Saknikent and Eva Atwine. She is survived by two daughters daugh-ters and a son by a former marriage: mar-riage: Mrs. Dorothy Mountain-lion, Mountain-lion, Mrs. Clarice Lopez, and Achilles Wash; Jacketta. Hubert and Sheila Jack; all of Whiterocks. White-rocks. . The couple also is survived bv two grandchildren. |
