Show LAPOINT Mable Jenkins HONORED ON BIRTHDAY The Sunshine Club held a birthday birth-day party at the home of Orpha Kump Friday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Kump's birthday. Mrs. Jess Neumeyer read her history from the time she came to Lapoint up to now. Mrs. Vera Bigelow read some poems. Bingo was played. Mrs. Delia Burton made the birthday birth-day cake. The trimmings were white and pink, with light green candles. . A plate lunch was served to Mrs. Pearl Woolley. Mrs. Ora Swain, Mrs. Mable Jenkins, Mrs. Delia Burton, Mrs. Vera Bigelow and Mrs-. Pearl Perry of Crow Creek, Mrs. Sylvia Blackburn and hostess, Mrs. Orpha Kump. Darrus Rasmussen and his room mate, students of BYU, spent the weekend at the Thurmer Rasmus-sen Rasmus-sen home. They attended the basketball bas-ketball game between Uintah and Union High at Rangely, Colorado Saturday evening. ; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lowe and family, of Salt Lake City, spent the weekend with Mrs. Lowe's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thurmer Rasmussen, and accompanied her parents and Mrs. Merl Horrocks to Rangely, Colo. Saturday evening eve-ning to attend the basketball game between Uintah High and Union High. A public meeting was held Friday Fri-day evening at Alterra school. The school building program for the west side of the county was discussed. At this time the tentative ten-tative proposals of the board of education were made known both in regard to financing and the type of school organization to be undertaken. Those from Lapoint attending the meeting were: Loris Woolley, Elroy Walker, Rulon Rasmussen, Ras-mussen, Mildred Neilson and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee. A P-TA meeting was held at the Lapoint school Thursday at 2 p.m. Wayne Burton conducted. Speaker was Max Abbott of Vernal. Ver-nal. Thelma talked about a new building on the west side. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served to a large crowd. Mrs. Pearl Labrum and daughters, daugh-ters, of Crow Creek, visited Mr. and Mrs. George Allred and fam ily. ' Mr. and Mrs. Preston Searles and family, of Leota, were calling on Mr. and Mrs. Blackburn Thursday. Thurs-day. Mr. and Mrs. Art Taylor were Vernal visitors one day this week. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Norton and family, of Clearfield, were visitors of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Norton. Alyce Jenkins, a BYU student of Provo, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Jenkins. Merlin Watkins spent the weekend week-end with his mother, Mrs. Tom Abplanalp and family of Vernal. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenkins received re-ceived word from their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Stubbs that their son, Brent, is recovering from a case of - pneumonia. Boyd Winn was transferred from Fruita, Colorado to Sterling Colorado as a driller for the oil rig in that area. Ira Forakis, of Salt Lake City, was a guest of his mother, Mrs. Afton Forakis, and Mike Kastrin- : akis Monday night. Kenneth Hartle was accompanied accompan-ied by Orvill Swain to Salt Lake City. Mr. Hartle took a load of cattle for Mr. Swain to the stock yards. Choir practice was held in the ward chapel Wednesday evening. The Special Interest group had a square dance Friday evening in the ward chapel. Light refreshments refresh-ments were served to 19 guests. Clyde Jarrell, of Fontana, Calif., was accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Mary Jarrell and visited Mr. and Mrs. Art Taylor. Mrs. Jarrell spent the winter with her children in California and will make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Art Taylor and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Angus and children, of Roosevelt, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adrain Kump and family. Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Foster visited with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Foster of Bountiful and Mr. and Mrs. John Wardle and family of Salt Lake City. A son, Mr. and Mrs. Javens Foster of Idaho came and visited them at the home of Mr. and Mrs. War-die. War-die. The Fosters were also guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Moon and family of Provo. They were accompanied accom-panied home by Mr. and Mrs. Javens Foster of Idaho. . Fred Neumeyer attended a meeting in Altamont recently. A group of friends and neighbors neigh-bors gathered at the home of Mike Kastrinskis and enjoyed television Monday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenkins received re-ceived word from their daughter and son-in-law that their son, Brent, is recovering from a case of pneumonia at his home in Sterling, Ster-ling, Colorado. |
