Show - Ellen Bracken Phone 62062 Grade School Presents Plays The eighth grade students of the Alterra school put on two one-act one-act plays entitled, "Love Hits Wfl-bur" Wfl-bur" and "The Laughing Ghosts." These plays were presented for the students twice, and at the Roosevelt Junior High School. On Thursday evening they were presented pre-sented for the parents at Alterra. The cast for the "Laughing Ghosts" was: Joe, Gerald Grant, Cleo Jeraldine Denver and Celia Kay Jenkins; Uncle ' Ned, Ronald Murdock and Don B. Kettle; Aunt Barbara, Jean Miller and Rosalie Lopez; Pam, Karen Gines; Elaine, Rita Jean Reed and Judy Arnold; Daisy, Beth Muny. Cast manager was Jeraldine Denver. . . .-... The cast for "Love Hits Wilbur" was: Wilbur, Eugene Brown; Mrs. Maxwell, Sharan Rasmussen; Mr. Maxwell, Dennis Crapo; Betty Lou, Elaine Bingham and Yvonne Burton; Bur-ton; Virginia, Marjorie Farns-worth Farns-worth and Colleen Squire; Connie, Anna Brandt and Betty Pitcher. Cast manager was Sharan Rasmussen. Rasmus-sen. These plays were under the direction di-rection of Sam Hemingway, the eighth grade teacher. The few parents who witnessed the plays said they were very well rendered. Calvin and Spencer Squire spent last weekend visiting friends and relatives in Gunnison Valley. MEETING POSTPONED Due to a meeting called for ward workers Thursday evening, March 3, P-TA was postponed until un-til Thursday evening, March 10, where officers will be nominated. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Todd and small son, who have been living at Ft. Lee, Virginia for several months, are visiting at the Russel Todd home, and at the Bernard Winkler home in Bluebell. They are to leave for Stockton, Calif. March 22. SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETS Sunday School ward Preparation meeting was held Wednesday evening, eve-ning, March 2, at the George Bracken home, with thirteen officers offi-cers and teachers present. Leland Angus presented the faculty 'lesson. 'les-son. Various problems were discussed, dis-cussed, after which Mrs. Bracken served refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Seth Asay attended attend-ed funeral services in Price one day last week for a friend. . Mr. and , Mrs. Wilmer . Parrish reported that it stormed on them all the way to Omaha, Nebraska and back., They were gone one week on their trip. Mrs. Mary Hacking, Mrs. Gay Johnson and Mrs. Dorothy Marx, of the stake Primary board, visited visit-ed the Ballard Primary last Tuesday. Tues-day. Mrs. Eric Stolla sprained one of her ankles as she was coming out of the chapel after Mutual Tuesday night. PRESENTS PROGRAM Relief Society presented the program on Sunday evening,' Feb. 28. Mrs. Nita White and Mrs. Lora Asay were the speakers. The Singing Mothers sang several songs. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kelly, of Tooele, have moved onto the Peter Anderson farm, which they had previously purchased. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Rasmussen of Lapoint, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem on Friday evening. Visitors at the Haslem home on Saturday were LaMar Norton of Salt Lake City, and his mother, Mrs." Sarah Norton Nor-ton of Lapoint. Mrs. Charles Bingham visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Snyder at Altonah last week. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKenna, of Orem, spent the past weekend at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Russel Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert McKenna in Roosevelt. Bryce White and Miss Joan Parkington, of Oakland, Calif.; both students at the BYU, visited with Bryce's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden White, over the weekend. Mrs. Jack Cook presented the Theology lesson at Relief Society last Tuesday. Mrs. Junior Betts gave the teachers' topic. TALK BUILDING FUND Officers of the ward met at a meeting at the - chapel Thursday night to discuss ways of raising money for the ward's donation for the new stake chapel. Earl Taylor, who has made his home with Bishop and Mrs. Golden Gol-den Collins and family for some time, left Tuesday to join the armed forces. A good representation from Ballard, Bal-lard, both parents- and students, went to Rangely Saturday evening to witness the basketball game between Union and Uintah. Among some who went were: Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmar Parrish, Mr. and Mrs. Elton El-ton Kettle, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sprouse, Mr. and Mrs. ' Russel Tofld, Max Todd, the Womacks from Independence, besides the Ballard students at Union. Misses Eva and Essie Sprouse, who arev employed at Salt Lake City, spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth Sprouse. They had as their guest, a friend, Miss Dorothy Sa-bin, Sa-bin, also of Salt Lake City. A mass meeting was held in the Alterra gym on Friday evening eve-ning with a good representation of parents from the surrounding towns, all but one of the school board members, and Supt. Max Abbott were present. The discussion discus-sion was where to build a new school house. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Safely and sons, of Price, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sprouse last week. Mrs. Safely is a twin sister of Mrs. Sprouse, and formerly lived at Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bingham were called to Neola early Monday Mon-day morning because of the sudden sud-den illness of Mrs. Bingham's father, Elroy Halverson. BASKETBALL GAMES The basketball boys, called the "Huskies" from Ft. Duchesne, played basketball with the Indian boys from Washakie, Wyoming, Saturday afternoon at the Alterra gym. The "Huskies" also played the "Road Kings" from White-rocks. White-rocks. Games were played, in the afternoon and evening with a large attendance at both games. |
