His start came as a donation from Bowman Machinery Co. of Roosevelt. "Better Pigs Pay Off", F. F. A. Students Report Creig Ross, Future Farmer from Tridell has demonstrated that "Better Pigs Pay Off." In November, Novem-ber, 1954, Creig was awarded a registered Poland China Gilt chain animal, sponsored by Marion Bowman, Bow-man, agent for the Ford Tractor Company. This gilt was selected from a litter of pigs farrowed by a Grand! Champion sow of Duchesne Co. Stock Shows. The sow was owned by Larry Hartman of Altamont. At the Altamont Stock Show in May, 1955, the gilt returned to win over her mother, i These two pigs were placed as Grand Champion Champ-ion and Reserve Champion, respectively. res-pectively. Creig's sow went on to be named Grand Champion breeding breed-ing sow of the Vernal Stock Show and the Duchesne County Fair. This spring Creig exhibited a son of his sow, which won top honors at Altamont and Vernal. This indicates the qualities of these pigs which is carrying down from generation to generation. These pigs can be seen in Tridell at the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Laren Ross, parents of Creig.who states that it is his belief that the starting start-ing of quality stock, like his, will help to improve the livestock of our area. Tom Milburn Receives Pig Award Tom Milburn of Ioka, was recently re-cently named the winner of a fine purebred Poland China gilt.
