Show 8allar4 Ellen Bracken Phone 62062 Uintah Announces New Principal Arthur Wiscomb, son of Mr. and Arthur . Wiscomb of Provo, will be the temporary replacement for Glen Ovard, as principal of Uintah high school this coming school year. Arthur received his master's degree from Harvard and Columbia universities and has taught in public schools in Utah. He completed a year of concentrated concen-trated study in the center for field studies at Harvard and is now working towards the degree of Dr. of Education. Arthur was born and raised in Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dean and family have been enjoying a vacation, va-cation, Mr. Dean is custodian at the Alterra school Owen Burgener, music instructor instruc-tor at Union High, is giving music lessons to seven students at the Alterra school on Mondays. Mr and Mrs. Udell. Birch, of Wendover spent the weekend with Mrs. Birch's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brisbin. Mr. and Mrs T. B. Brighton and daughter, Nancy, of Salt Lake spent two days last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Brighton. Other visitors at their home were Mr. and Mrs. Jean Hagler and three daughters also of Salt Lake City. Johnnie, the young son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gardner, had the misfortune of tipping a pan of hot water over on him and burn-' burn-' ing one side quite seriously, it was a third degree burn but at present he is recovering nicely. Mrs. Johnstun's mother, Mrs. Wm. Jenkins, before leaving for Santa Barbara, Calif. Other visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Mitchell of Provo. The two couples and Mrs. Jenkins and family made a trip to Meeker, Golo., to visit Mr. Jenkins who is employed there. Golden Heed, son of Mrs. Venita Heed, spent a short time with his family on returning from St. Geo. where he has been attending college col-lege before leaving for Camp Williams with the National Guard. Golden reports at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma to enroll at a National Guard school on June 30. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle and and family and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bracken enjoyed a trip Sunday to Ouray and had a picnic on the Duchesne river. Mr. and Mrs.. Frank Bingham, who have been living in Salt Lake several months are now at the Charles Bingham home. At present Frank is at Book Cliffs fighting fire SWIMMING PARTY The following students of Phillip Merkley's Sunday School class enjoyed en-joyed a swimming party at Dye's resort on Monday evening: Margie Gardner, Patsy Hullinger, Larry and Vicky Norton, Karl and ear-ma ear-ma White, George Mangum, Allen Collins and Merrill. Rasmussen. They' were accompanied by Mrs. Earl Gardner and Ferrell Rasmus-sen. Rasmus-sen. Mrs. Ilene Rust, Mrs. Thelma Lindsay, Mrs. Annie Anderson and Mrs. VaLoy Farnsworth all of Mt. View, were visitors at the home of Mrs. Ralph McMullins one day last week. Mrs. Anderson is Mrs. McMullins mother and Mrs. Rust and Mrs.. Lindsay are her sisters. PRIMARY SOCIAL Eighteen of the officers and teachers of Primary attended the preparation meeting at the home of Mrs. Verda Rasmussen on Thur. evening. June 14. After the lesson it was turned into a social in honor hon-or of Mrs. Ardis Kettle who is leaving for Salt Lake. Mrs. Kettle has been secretary and historian of the Primary for several years. She was presented a book in honor hon-or of her faithful service. Mrs. Beth Mangum assisted Mrs. Rasmussen Ras-mussen with refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. George Bracken attended the wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Bob Goodrich at the Bennett chapel on Saturday. Funeral services were held for William Horrocks, at Layton on Thursday, June 14. Mrs. Horrocks was unable to attend her husbands hus-bands funeral because of a broken leg. We extend our sympathy to Mrs. Horrocks and family. Mr. and Mrs Ralph O'Neil and two children spent last weekend with Ralph's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn O'Neil at Price. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Molyneaux and daughter of Salt Lake have been recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Stolla. They brought Jerry and Allen, sons of Mr., and Mrs Herbert Molyneaux of Pinedale, Wyo to' spend the summer with their grandparents. Clara Stolla accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Molyneaux to Granger where she will spend the summer. Charles-Bingham spent several nights nights in the Roosevelt hospital hos-pital last week. Misses Mary Hullinger, Celia Jay Jenkins, Lonnie Kay Winn, Judy Brisbin and David Lundberg and Reed Rasmussen went to- Salt Lake City to participate in the MIA Dance Festival PARTY GIVEN The Bee Hive and Mia Maids had a surprise party in honor of Larane Kettle who is leaving soon. The leaders of the girls who were in charge were Beatrice Lundberg, Lola Hatch and Inez Squire. Larane Lar-ane was presented a plate with a picture of Utah and all inscribed their names on it. After an evening of games, refreshment were served. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Snyder and family of Salt Lake City spent the weekend at the home of her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham. Bing-ham. Clyde Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs Wm. Jenkins has been suffering suf-fering with infection in his hands. Mr. and Mrs. Mar Ross and family' who , have been living in Layton the past year, spent a few days here at their home prior to going to Arizona where Mr. Ross has employment. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Johnstun, and baby, who have been in Southern South-ern Utah, spent several days with |
