Show CLIFF MEMMOTT, Editor A PLEA FOR A CLEANER CITY OF ROOSEVELT .... ' To All Merchants and Professional Men Roosevelt, Utah Gentlemen: In order that Roosevelt may present a cleaner and more pleasing appearance to tourists as well as to residents of the area, we are asking that each business house and office in the city cooperate with Roosevelt City officials in keeping keep-ing the city clean and neat. It is our suggestion that each business house and office be responsible for keeping the sidewalk and gutter clean in front of said establishment, and along the side of the building occupied if it happens to be on a corner. please do not sweep the sidewalk clean and deposit the trash and dust in the gutter. Instead, sweep the gutter clean also and deposit the debris in cans that have been provided at regular intervals along Main and Lagoon Streets. Arrangements have been made to' have all trash cans emptied on Wednesdays and Saturdays of each week, and additional pick-up will be made if it is found to be necessary. neces-sary. Should the trash not be emptied from the can near your place of business on said days, please call Rae Scholes and request that he take care of the matter. With the cooperation of each business and professional man or woman, we hope to be able to keep loose papers i and trash from blowing along streets in the business section with every passing breeze. We know that the unsightly appearance caused by such trash is offensive to' tourists, often causing them to drive on to the next town to -spend the evening and night. Thus, we are losing tourist dollars that would otherwise bolster our economy. To keep Roosevelt clean, however, must be the repon-sibility repon-sibility of each individual business house. It cannot be done by the City Street Department unaided, or by just a few conscientious citizens. We are counting on you for full cooperation. Very truly yours, ROOSEVELT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Paul Murphy, President EDITOR'S NOTE The above letter was mailed to' every business establishment and professional man in Roosevelt Roose-velt City on Tuesday, June 23. v E v More than half of all employed persons use their cars for earning a living, including professional and managerial groups, salesmen and semi-skilled workers.
