Show Former Resident Of IViyton Dies George Meranda, a former resident of Myton, died Oct. 1 in a Mesa. Arizona hospital of causes incident to age. Mr. Meranda Mer-anda came to the Uintah Basin about 1906 and filed on a home- stead near Myton. He resided I here until a few years ago', i when he moved to Arizona to make his home with his daugh-ter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Lee (Myrtle) Murdock. Courtland, Wednesday evening when Mrs. Courtland entertained honoring her husband's birthday anniversary. anniver-sary. Refreshments were served after an evening of pinochle. HONORED BY LADIES AID Mrs. W. E. Burton was honored hon-ored Thursday afternoon when members of the Ladies Aid surprised sur-prised her to celebrate her birthday birth-day anniversary. Many lovely gifts were presented by her friends and a delicious lunch was served at the close of the afternoon. Fifteen guests wee present. Miss Alice Todd, Mrs. Bliss Lott, Mrs Homer Robinson, Mrs. W. H. Linck, Mrs. R. H. Burdick and Mrs. W. R. Harris were guests at the home of Mrs. S. F. Mortensen, Friday afternoon. after-noon. Sewing was the afternoon's after-noon's diversion, followed by delicious refreshments. Mrs. R. C. Walker and daughter, daugh-ter, Jean Walker, came from Salt Lake City, Sunday, to' visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish ' and to spend a few hours with Mr. Walker, who is employed .here at present. pres-ent. Mrs. Walker, Jean and Mrs. Dalgleish went to Duchesne in the late afternoon to visit Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hart before the Walkers returned to Salt Lake City. Visitors Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Felter were Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Allred, of St. David, Arizona, who were enroute home from a vacation in Washington and Oregon. Howard Funk, who has been employed in . Palesade, Idaho, on construction work, arrived home Saturday. He will visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Funk until after the deer hunting hunt-ing season and will then go to Tucson, Arizona to resume construction con-struction work. Mrs. Gertrude Axtell, who has been a guest at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Babcock, left Sunday for her home in Sacramento, Sacra-mento, Calif. Mrs. Babcock accompanied ac-companied her mother as far as Salt Lake City, where they will spend a few days visiting relatives. Luncheon guests at the home of Mrs. Bliss Lott, Wednesday, were Mrs. W. H. Koehler, Mrs. Harry Nelson and Mrs. Ethel Martin, of Vernal, complimentary complimen-tary to Mrs. R. H. Burdick, Mrs. Lott's sister who is visiting here. Del Combs, of Talmage, visited vis-ited Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish Dal-gleish Monday and transacted business here. Incidently he noticed no-ticed Mr. McKinnon drive down the old road into Myton -and saw the car take a nose dive over the end of the pier and was first on hand to reach the scene of the accident. |
