Show Symphony Season In Utah To Start November 4 The Utah Symphony orchestra opens its 14th season on Nov. 4, according to David S. Rom-ney, Rom-ney, managing director, who has just announced the final plans for the 1953-54 series. In addition to ten concerts in Salt Lake City .the orchestra will play four concerts at Ogden and other concerts around the state, all the way from Logan to Cedar City. The touring schedule- is now being drawn up and will include all towns and cities that are interested- in having1 a symphony concert and can assure a crowd of sufficient size to warrant a concert. Meanwhile ticket sales for the regular season conert series are under way and requests are being received from all over the state, according to Mr. Rom-ney. Guest artists this year will include Helen Traubel, soprano Jascha Heifetz, violin; Grant Johannesen, piano and Jakob Gimpel, piano. Walter Shaw, Piano, Reid Nibley, piano, Alexander Alex-ander Schreiner, organ and Concert Con-cert Master Hrold Wolf, violin, are local artists who will - be featured with the orchestra during dur-ing the season. "This orchestra is a state orchestra and we want everyone every-one in the state who loves music to feel that the orchestra is their orchestra," reported Mr. Romney. Maestro Maurice Abravanel. will return for his seventh season seas-on and most of the . principal players will be back in the fold, according to Mr. Romney. ' f |
