Show LeetonBennett Fern Houston Truck Kills Deer While going to work one day last week Winfred and Kenneth Long had, what might have been, a serious accident. They were traveling quite fast on the road to Whiterocks in a truck when a deer jumped out of the brush in front of them. It was quite some time before they brought the truck under control. The deer was killed and the damage to the truck was estimated at nearly $100. Occupants of the truck were not injured. Douglas Phillips was home this weekend to attend the open house party given for his grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Theo Phillips at their home in Roosevelt on Sunday. Sun-day. BilJie and Dixie, children of Russell Phillips, helped' to serve. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Bolton are proud that a lttle girl has come to stay and brighten their home in her own sweet way. She was born at the Roosevelt Hospital June 21. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem and Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Bolton.. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Springer are in Provo where Mr. Springer will receive medical attention. He has taken sick leave and Del Mar Gardner is riding ditch for him. Shorty Springer is working for Wayne Haslem at Tabiona on a government plowing and reseed-ing reseed-ing project. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Coltharp returned re-turned from Salt Lake City where they have been attending a Nurses' convention. Mr and Mrs. Dick Coltharp spent Sunday at Rangely visiting her parents, Mr. and' Mrs. Fred Nichols. Mrs. Norma Bowen and family attended the Bowen reunion held Saturday and Sunday at Provo.. Betty Bolton, Delma Long and Reva Hall attended the Primary convention at Vernal Friday. They also visited Mrs. Delia McKowen. Martin Hamaker of Price is here visiting and helping Marvin move into their new home, which he just purchased from Nellie Horrocks. Bill Jenkins was baptized Sunday Sun-day at the Stake House in Roosevelt Roose-velt He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Jenkins. Mrs. Oral Coltharp returned from a visit to San Francisco. Mrs. Mary Hamaker of Dugway has been here .the past week preparing to move home again after several years at Dugway where she has had' employment. She will return in a week to stay. She has one more week to work there. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmston visited' Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harmston who were entertaining Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Miller of San Angelo, Texas, Tex-as, who are visiting their son, George Miller, at Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Almon King of Lone Elm, Kansas, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman King of New Ark, New Jersey, and two daughters came to spend a week with the J. A. Houstons Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem attended at-tended the Open House Party for Mr. and Mrs. Theo Philips in Roosevelt Sunday. |
