Show This Weekys. RECIPE . . . A recipe for a delicous, moist devil's food cake is printed this week. The recipe was given by Mrs. Ed Yack, who has it among her favorites. DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 1 cup sugar cup cocoa 1 cup milk ' 1 egg Combine sugar and cocoa. Add well-beaten egg and milk. Cook in top of double boiler until thick and smooth. Let cool. 1 cup sugar cup shortening y2 cup milk 2 eggs 2 cups cake flour Vs tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanila Cream sortening and sugar. Add well-beaten eggs. Beat thoroughly. Sift flour. Measure and sift with baking soda and salt. Add alternately with milk to creamed shortening and sugar. Add flavoring. Add cocoa mixture which has been cooled. Beat thoroughly. Pour into oiled and floured pans. Bake in moderate oven (375 deg.) for twenty minutes or until done. Frost with fudge or seven minute min-ute icing between layers and on top |
