Show This Week's RECIPE . . . The recipe submitted this week by Mrs. Bennie Schmiett is for Date Sticks, which are especially es-pecially appropriate for a snack to take fishing. Mrs. Schmiett states that she keeps them in a tightly closed can, which keeps them fresh many days. Date Sticks 3 eggs 1 cup sugar I tsp. vanilla , I tsp. baking powder 1V cups sifted cake flour 1 cup chopped nut meats IVi cups chopped pitted dates Beat eggs until light. Beat in sugar and add vanilla. Sift flour and baking powder and add most of it to egg mixture. mix-ture. Mix remaining flour with nuts and dates and add to mixture. mix-ture. Grease and flour 8-inch square dripper and pour in mixture. Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 325 degrees, de-grees, or until done. When done, turn out on rack to cool. Cut in desired size bars and roll each bar in powdered sugar. These are very tasty to make during the holiday season, also. |
