Show FARManJHOME&f ITtH STATU EXTENSION 8EKVICE ;;;. Li.ri kk homk koinumi' By Louis A. Jensen Our annual county 4-H Club camp was held last week in Uinta canyon. One hundred twenty members and leaders were there and participated in the various activities. Besides the usual routine of camp life, flag raising, games, handicraft,- nature studies, log sawing and campfire programs provided plenty to do for all. The camp was conducted under un-der my direction, with its own officers in charge. These were: Donna Ross, Arcadia, mayor; Nadine Ottosen, Tabiona, assistant assist-ant mayor; Maura Hurley, Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, secretary; Twila Larson, Bluebell, secretary. Visiting specialists were Fern Shipley, assistant state 4-H Club leader, and W. E. Tangren, assistant as-sistant state forester. Our recent field day gave farmers from various parts of the county an opportunity to see demonstrations on fertilizers, weed control and corn varieties. At Richard Olsen's farm in Neola, outstanding increases in yield are being obtained from the use of phosphate fertilizer. This is also true on Hyrum Jensen's Jen-sen's farm south of Roosevelt. The effect of various chemicals chemi-cals on Russian Knapweed was shown on the weed farm southwest south-west of Roosevelt. A corn variety demonstration was observed at the Richard Olsen farm. There are other corn demonstrations in the county coun-ty and you are invited to go take a look at the one nearest you sometime before harvest. They are at the following farms: Ieon Burton, Talmage; John Muny, Duchesne; Hale Holgate, Arcadia; Clyde Lisonbee, Bluebell. Blue-bell. Have you noticed the good fields of silage corn throughout the 'county? This seems to be a "good corn year." You can't beat corn silage for a lot of feed on a few acres. Three tons of corn silage is worth 1 ton of alfalfa hay in food value. There are a lot of 20-lon-per-acre corn fields this year. Can you produce pro-duce 7 tons of alfalfa per acre? Better plan to plant corn silage next year. Yours For The Asking We have bulletins and helpful information informa-tion on almost every phase of farming and home making. Come in and get your copies. |
