Show loka Boy Awarded Etiwanis' Calf To Start 4-11 Work John Percival, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Percival, of loka, last night was selected to receive the pure-bred Jersey heifer, which actually begins the Roosevelt Kiwanis club's 4-H Calf Project. The Agriculture and Conservation . committee, headed by Wilford Robinson, has been working, along with County Coun-ty Agent Louis Jensen, on the project since early last spring, and last week approved the purchase pur-chase of the calf from the Paul Foote herd at loka. for $125.00 The new calf owner, who has been extremely active in 4-H work in the county for several years, will display his calf at the County Fair at Duchesne Friday and Saturday, and will, by agreement, care for the calf and turn its first offspring back to the Kiwanis club to perpetuate perpetu-ate the project from year to year. After he has fulfilled this obligation, he becomes sole owner own-er of the heifer. At last night's Kiwanis meeting meet-ing several committee reports were heard and one new member, mem-ber, Jack Rasmussen, of the Hi-Land Hi-Land Dairy, was admitted to membership. He was inducted by Andy Norling', past president of the Vallejo, California club, who was visiting the local club. Dale Ashby, membership chairman chair-man introduced Kiwanian Rasmussen, Ras-mussen, who was sponsored by Mr. Robinson, manager of the Roosevelt plant of Hi -Land Dairy. Another guest was Jewel Klb- President J. D. Walker conducted con-ducted the meeting, and reported report-ed that next week Lt. Gov. Milton Mil-ton Rigby would attend the meeting. |
