Show BYU Medics Gain Admission To Medical Colleges Brigham Young University had received word today that 16 of last year's students, had been accepted by the medical schools and 16 by the dental school. Dr. C. Lynn Hayward, chairman chair-man of the BYU advisory committee com-mittee for premedical and pre-dental pre-dental students, said this record excels the acceptance rate for students both of the state and the nation. "During the past few years our students have been very successful in gaining admission to medical and dental schools," Dr. Hayward said. Taking the 1952 class so that cohiparisons could be made, Dr. Hayward pointed out that 15 BYU premedical students out of 24 applicants were accepted, or 63 per cent. This compares with 54 per cent acceptance of all students applying from the state of Utah and 46 per cent acceptance accep-tance among students of the nation as a whole. "Practically all of our well qualified students are sure of acceptance to medical and dental dent-al schools," Dr. Hayward said. |
