Show Utah Counties Hot Approved For , Federal Drouth Aid Duchesne County is one of the 15 Utah counties designated as drouth areas, which has been denied federal disaster relief. Gov. J. Bracken Lee has been notified a second time that all 15 counties have been denied use of federal emergency drouth and disaster aid that would qualify resident stockmen in these counties for federal drouth emergency loans and cut-rate prices on government feed. The counties are Beaver, Daggett, Dag-gett, Duchesne, Emery,, Garfield, Gar-field, Iron, Juab, Millard.Piute, Tooele, Uintah and Washington. Box Elder, Grand and Utah Counties also have been recommended rec-ommended for aid by local agricultural agri-cultural agencies, but the governor gov-ernor said he did not feel these counties could qualify if the other Utah counties were turned down. Gov. Lee said he talked with Department of Agriculture officials offi-cials recently by telephone. "They told me the reason for turning down Utah counties was because of lack of funds," the governor said. "They said the money was needed more in other oth-er sections of the nation." |
