Show Future Farmers Toyack Chapter By Tom Rowley, Reporter LOCAL F.F.A. CHAPTER ATTENDS STOCK SHOW;' Last Friday all the fellows from Toyack F. F. A. chapter attended the stock show at Altamont. Al-tamont. Those who participated in the various events were as follows: Exhibiting - Tom Rowley with the top boar and 3rd place sow; Arlan and Sherman Crozier, Ronald Zirker and Max Patry all exhibited fat beef and received re-ceived second ribbons: Vard and Foy Swain exhibited sheep and received second ribbons. Other exhibitors, who failed to place, were Joe Shields, with a beef bull; Keith Neilson, sow; Keith Lemon, sow. The following entered the judging contest: Vard Swain, Foy Swain, Byrell Lamb, Ronald Ron-ald Zirker, Leon Ross, Keith Mortensen, Tom Rowley. Rawlin Spencer, A. D. Shaw, Don Burns. Bur-ns. Vard Swain won first place and received a hypodermic gun; Byrell Lamb was second, and won a fence tightener; Leon Ross tied for third' place and won a pair of horse hobbles; Ronald Zirker and Keith Mortensen Mor-tensen tied for fourth, and each received a necktie. , Also at the show the following follow-ing were chosen to go to the state judging contest in Salt Lake City, June 7, 8, 9: Vard Swain, Byrell Lamb, Leon Ross, Keith Mortensen Ronald Zirker and Tom Rowley, with Rawlin Spencer, A. D. Shaw and Don Murris as alternates. They will judge classes of sheep, beef, dairy and swine. " On Monday the chapter held a special meeting to elect next year's officers. The results were Ronald Zirker, president: Gayle Gilbert, vice president; Leon Ross, secretary; Fred Brown, treasurer; Tom Rowley, reporter; report-er; and Byrell Lamb and Keith Mortensen sentinals. These officers will work jointly joint-ly with those from Alterra at Union high school next school term. ' |
