Greatly responsible for the speedy organization and completion comple-tion of the garden is Mrs. Clair Ashton, president of the Garden club, who supervised the largest portion of the project, with the aid of a few ardent workers. Much commendation is due these ladies for their .untiring efforts ef-forts and many hours devoted to the garden project. The cement curbing around the garden was completed a week ago last Monday, and since that time the ground has been graded, soil hauled in, the sprinkling system installed and the fence put up, which signifies signi-fies a lot of organized labor. Mrs. Ashton and her committee commit-tee wish to thank the following for their splendid cooperation in the project: Coach Marcus Garrett Gar-rett and his gym boys for their help; Pat Duncan and his crew of men, for hauling the soil; Ted Jensen and Wilford Workman, for putting up the fence; all men, women and boys who so generously responded to the call for help; and the city employees and officials for their cooperation. coopera-tion. Appreciation is also extended the following groups and individuals indi-viduals who have purchased ! plots of roses: Roosevelt high i and elementary schools, Roose-jvelt Roose-jvelt and Second Ward L.D.S. Relief Societies, Kiwanis and Lions clubs, the Wogec sisters, Dr. R. V. Larson, Dr. Paul Stringham, the C. L. Ashtons , and R. S. Jordans, the American Legion and Auxiliary, Roosevelt I L.D.S. stake, and Alterra high I school. Due to the lateness of the season, which was the reason ifor hastening the project, there will be no more planting done ' this year, but it is hoped by the . Garden club that by next year other groups and individuals I will wish to purchase giots.. |
